Background - The McAfee’s, an upper middle class family, were fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have borne two daughters: Eleanor and Judith, being separated by four years. Eleanor, having been secretly participating in an affair with a married Literature Professor in the city, ran off later that day to live with the married man, and Judith was left to marry the Noble.
